Introductory Series: Yoga for Back Care

Learn classical and modified yoga poses to benefit back conditions such as lower back pain, disc disease, sciatica, upper back and neck tightness, or asymmetry in the body due to scoliosis or other minor imbalances.

Experience how yoga strengthens and stretches the body and quiets the mind. This session is for beginners or anyone new to Iyengar Yoga. Explore yoga in a comfortable and safe environment, learn core poses and why the breath is so important.

Energy Meridians & Yoga
with Cora Wen
Saturday March 13 from 2:00-5:00 PM in Palo Alto
Cora will turn our attention to spring and will focus awareness on internal organs to access the natural and primal energy flowing within us. She will use yoga sequences to reveal the “sea of energy” in our bodies and how to access this life force (Chi) in yoga practice. All levels encouraged and welcome.
Fee is $60 in advance; $70 at the door.
Restorative Yoga
Sunday, March 14 with Lisa Brill Robinson from 2:00-4:00 pm Saturday, April 10
with Ann Merlo from 2:00-4:00 pm
Restorative Yoga focuses on supported poses and breathwork. With support, each pose is held longer than usual to slow down the nervous system and regenerate and refresh the spirit on a deeper level. All are welcome. Class minimum eight students.

QI GONG for Vitality and the Immune System with Tim Nguyen

Qi Gong (pronounced "chee gung") is the ancient method of maintaining health and promoting longevity as well as preventing and treating illnesses. This series will focus on Tibetan Qi Gong that can be helpful for increasing vitality and supporting the immune system
Series is suitable for students new to Qi Gong and continuing students.
Tim Nguyen, LAc, Dipl. OM is a State Board and Nationally certified (NCCAOM) Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioner. He was trained both in the US & in China, where he extensively worked in major hospitals of Hangzhou in Zhejiang province. He has been teaching Qi Gong for five years at Immune Enhancement Project clinic in San Francisco, Little House, a senior center in Menlo Park, and Energy Wellness Center (EWC) in downtown Palo Alto.
Series fee is $80.
Yoga for Scoliosis - Part I with Elise Miller

This workshop is appropriate for beginning and intermediate students and teachers who wish to assist their students with scoliosis. Also, teachers are invited to bring their students with scoliosis to the workshop. Elise will discuss the causes, effects and patterns of scoliosis. She will introduce how to approach yoga for scoliosis including most beneficial yoga poses. Adjustments and props will be used to assist participants in working with their own scoliosis.
The ten-hour Part I workshop is an opportunity for teachers to begin the twenty-hour course requirement plus practicum to become a Yoga for Scoliosis Trainer.
Fee for full workshop is $230 Individual session fees: Friday session $50, Saturday or Sunday $100

Based in Urbana, Illinois, Lois is an advanced level certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher with 30 years of yoga study, practice, and teaching experience. Lois has studied extensively with the Iyengars in the general and medical classes. She also has a Ph.D. in Nutritional Sciences. Lois organized the International Women's Intensive with Geeta S. Iyengar and is also the author of Geeta S. Iyengar's Guide to a Woman's Yoga Practice.
